Viking Rise: how to update the game

A new patch is out and the game won\'t let you into battle until you update. Below — how to update Viking Rise on Android, iPhone and PC, what to do if the update won\'t come, and breakdowns of what changed in recent versions.

How to update to the latest version

📱 Android (Google Play)
  1. Open Google Play → profile icon (top-right) → "Manage apps & device".
  2. Go to "Manage" → find Viking Rise → tap "Update". Or open the game page in Play and hit "Update".
  3. To get patches automatically, enable "Auto-update apps" in Play settings.
🍏 iPhone / iPad (App Store)
  1. Open the App Store → profile icon (top-right).
  2. Scroll to available updates → find Viking Rise → tap "Update" (or "Update all").
  3. Turn on automatic updates in Settings → App Store so you never miss one.
💻 PC — official IGG client
  1. The official client is on the developer site: vr.igg.com/pc (Windows installer). Playing on PC grants a bonus — an exclusive avatar frame.
  2. It pulls the patch on launch. If the version is stuck, download the fresh installer from the same page and reinstall over it — progress is kept.
  3. Progress is shared with mobile — sign in with your account (IGG / linked).
💻 PC — Steam or Epic Games
  1. The game is officially on Steam and Epic Games and updates on launch of the launcher.
  2. Steam not downloading the patch — open "Downloads" at the bottom of the Library; right-click the game → "Properties" → "Updates" → "Always keep updated".
  3. Acting up after an update — Steam: "Properties" → "Installed Files" → "Verify integrity of game files".

FAQ

How do I update Viking Rise to the new version?
Android — via Google Play (game page → "Update"), iPhone — via App Store (profile → "Update"), PC — the official client from vr.igg.com/pc, Steam or Epic Games update on launch. Step-by-step for each platform is in the block above.
The game asks me to update and won't let me in — why?
The new version is required for KvK, events and PvP: the server blocks outdated clients "for fair play". Just update to the latest version — your progress, heroes and purchases are tied to the account, not the version, so nothing is lost.
The update won't download / install — what do I do?
Patches roll out in waves, so the update may reach your region a few hours later — check again soon. If that does not help: free up storage, restart the device, clear the Google Play cache (Settings → Apps → Google Play → Clear cache), check your connection. As a last resort reinstall the game (account is linked, progress is safe).
What is the latest Viking Rise version?
The current client version is 1.5.142. We read the number straight from the game client, so it is always fresh here.
Will my progress survive the update?
Yes. Your city, heroes, troops and purchases are tied to your account (IGG / linked in settings), not the game version. Make sure the account is linked: Settings → Account.
